The new 2013 Subaru WRX, or 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX in its full name, is a good family car that you can use in various situations and circumstances. In what follows we’re going to take a look at some of its main features and specifications, and see what the pros and cons of this vehicle are. For those who like their car to be a bit speedier, there’s also an STI version, but both it and the WRX come in the same sedan and hatchback styles that previous models had.

The 2013 Subaru WRX features a 2.5-liter engine that helps it produce 265 horsepower, which is not bad at all for an all-purpose car like this. However, its cousin, the STI, manages to produce 305 horsepower, and it features a six-speed manual transmission, instead of the five-speed that WRX has. For many, the fact that these models have manual transmission can be a drawback because they’re used to automatic transmission, but this cannot be considered a defect when some drivers actually prefer it. If you’re thinking about purchasing one of these cars, your first selection criteria should be based on what your intentions with it are.

If you just want a family car that will help you with daily errands, traveling, going to work and all that, the 2013 Subaru WRX is a great choice, whereas the STI has trouble if you want to drive it smoothly. The STI was made to be revved up and driven fast; otherwise you’re wasting its potential. The interior of this Subaru isn’t very spectacular, and in fact it looks almost the same as it did in previous models, so for many it may be a bit outdated. Nevertheless, it is driver-oriented, it is comfortable and functional and the racing-style bucket seats in the front are very useful and protective.

The rear-seat space is also quite impressive for a car like this, because it is spacious and wide, thus providing extra comfort. The trunk space is not that big, but again, it is acceptable for this style of car. And since it was thought for city driving, the 2013 Subaru WRX hasn’t got major problems facing some potholes or bumpy roads; on the contrary, it manages admirably. It should also be useful to know that the WRX comes in three versions, the basic, Premium and Limited, with the latter including features such as fog lamps, mono-roof, heated power mirrors and heated leather seats.
