The Dodge Viper is one of the most famous lines of sports cars because its models have aggressive design lines and impressive performance. The series was first launched in 1992 by Chrysler, and numerous generations of power cars enthralled speed lovers since then. This year’s model, the 2013 SRT Viper is the first to renounce the name “Dodger” and be named simply Viper. The main asset of all Viper cars and of the 2013 SRT Viper as well, is the V10 engine, a big, bad, and powerful construction that offers these cars the speed and torque certain drivers look for in a car.

Therefore, the V10 fitted on the 2013 SRT Viper can produce some 640 horsepower at 6150 rpm and 600 lb-ft of torque at 4950 rpm. This 8.4-liter engine has some features that help it achieve these performances, like the cam-in-cam valve-timing system, or newly added features like the redesigned intake loves, and the composite intake manifold that makes the engine seven pounds lighter than the previous one. The V10 is also fitted with a sodium-filled exhaust valves and aluminum flywheel; in total, all the improvements managed to reduce the engine’s weight with an impressive 25 pounds.

The new 2013 SRT Viper has numerous other improvements and adjustments, such as the forged-aluminum Mahle pistons, or the revisions made to the head gaskets and the block, and which help reduce the heat at the rear cylinders. Each unit of this Viper is hand-built, and each will be tested to ensure that the marks and performance that have been announced are true. Furthermore, this model maintains the six-speed manual transmission that all previous Viper models had, and it also features the stability control that the government made mandatory to all new vehicles.

Although official tests have not been made, it is said that the 2013 SRT Viper should reach a top speed of approximately 206 mph, and it should also go from 0 to 60 mph in approximately three seconds. As for the stability control, we should mention that it is a feature that can be disabled by pressing the full-off mode button for about five seconds, while the car’s speed is less than 25 mph. Both the interior and the exterior of the car are impressive, elegant and sexy. The elongated and dynamic lines, the color combinations and the top quality materials make this car’s $120,000 price well worth it.
